In the latest update of Clash of Clans, a new troop called the Apprentice Warden is being introduced. This troop can be unlocked at Town Hall 13 by upgrading the dark barracks to level 10. The upgrade will cost 13 million Elixir and take 13 days without any gold pass perks. It is recommended to use a book of buildings to speed up the process since training troops will take twice as long during the upgrade.
The Apprentice Warden can be donated to players at Town Hall 11 and above. However, unlocking it at Town Hall 13 allows you to upgrade it in the laboratory to level 2. At Town Hall 14, you can upgrade it to level 3, and at Town Hall 15, you can reach its maximum level of 4.
Town Hall | Level | DPS | Aura HP increase | HP | Upgrade time | Upgrade cost |
13 | 1 | 170 | 24% | 1500 | NA | NA |
13 | 2 | 185 | 26% | 1650 | 9D | 180K DE |
14 | 3 | 200 | 28% | 1800 | 16D 18H | 315K DE |
15 | 4 | 215 | 30% | 1950 | 17D 12H | 340K DE |
Compared to the regular Warden, The Apprentice Warden has some advantages.
- It deals 215 damage per second and provides a 30% increase in Aura HP compared to the regular Warden. While the regular Warden has a maximum of 90 HP.
- The Apprentice Warden has no cap.
To put it into perspective, the max-level Barbarian King would have 3825 hit points boosted by The Apprentice Warden, but only 575 hit points boosted by the regular Warden
When comparing the Boost of the Apprentice Warden, it is important to note that the aura does not stack. Regardless of the number of Apprentice Wardens, you will only get a 30 HP increase. Additionally, The Apprentice Warden cannot be toggled between ground and air like the Grand Warden. It is purely a ground troop, which makes it vulnerable to ground defenses and limits its use with air troops like dragons
The Apprentice Warden is best used when the Grand Warden is not available, such as on defense. The aura will benefit not only the other Clan Castle defenders, but also any protecting heroes in the region. It works especially well when combined with a Golem in a tank-style Clan Castle, as the Golem’s hit points and the hit points of its Golemites are both increased.
On the offensive side
- The Apprentice Warden can help with a queen charge strategy.
- The HP bonus affects not just the Archer Queen but also the healers who assist her.
- It can give you an extra second to cast a spell and keep the Archer Queen’s ability from activating too soon
The Apprentice Warden is not immune behind the Archer Queen, and there is a chance that it will be killed early.
Within the battle airship, the Apprentice Warden can activate the Blizzard tactic by surviving the bomb Tower explosion. Due to limited housing capacity, it is still preferable to prioritize troops such as Super Archers or Super Wizards in the combat airship.
Overall, The Apprentice Warden has a variety of situational applications, and it will be interesting to see how players employ it in their plans. It is critical to assess the 20 housing spaces it takes up and
determine whether other troops might be more useful in certain conditions. The update also contains improvements to the balance and the disablement of personal breaks. The update is expected to be released soon, and players can look forward to discovering the new features and improvements.
